I’ll be in my trailer… watching trailers: War (What is it good for?)

Join us every week for a trip into the weird and wonderful world of trailers. Whether it’s the first teaser for the latest instalment in your favourite franchise, an obscure preview for a strange indie darling, whether it’s good, bad, ugly or just plain weird – your favourite pop culture baristas are there to tell you what they think.

This week began at A Damn Fine Cup with a guest post, courtesy of Henrik Hermans, on the filmography of the Man in Black himself: Johnny Cash. Make sure to check out Henke’s thoughts on films such as A Gunfight, Murder in Coweta County (featuring Andy “Griffith” Matlock in a rare villainous part) and the wonderfully named Ridin’ the Rails – The Great American Train Story!

Meanwhile, it’s the end of the world as we know it… almost. For this week’s Six Damn Fine Degrees, Sam looked at disaster movies and films about the possible end of the world, from Dr Strangelove to Mission: Impossible 7 (aka Dead Reckoning – Part 1).

Let’s end this week’s post with a very different kind of war:

Matt: After the big disappointments of The Book of Boba Fett and Obi Wan Kenobi, I’m honestly not sure what to expect of Star Wars: Ahsoka – doubly so because last year’s Andor was much better than Star Wars has any right to be these days, and in surprising ways. Then again, the trailer for this looks intriguing, and the cast includes Rosario Dawson, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lars Mikkelsen, actors who are generally very watchable. It’s also the first release featuring Ray Stevenson after his untimely death two months ago. Here’s hoping it’ll be more Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 than Boba or Obi.
