I’ll be in my trailer… watching trailers: Everyone getting their Oscars on?

Join us every week for a trip into the weird and wonderful world of trailers. Whether it’s the first teaser for the latest instalment in your favourite franchise, an obscure preview for a strange indie darling, whether it’s good, bad, ugly or just plain weird – your favourite pop culture baristas are there to tell you what they think.

This week, we saw Matt learning to forgive David Morse for something a character played by David Morse did. To be fair, he did say it was an irrational dislike.

And, seeing how it’s the weekend before the Oscars, Sam and Matt discussed their opinions of the nominees. (Spoiler: Matt didn’t particularly like Nyad – but he’d insist that that dislike is fairly rational.)

But what else is there other than Hollywood celebrating Hollywood? Well, be afraid. Be very afraid.

Mege: I don‘t know if this really happened, but the movie convinces me that we are witnessing a historical moment. And David Dastmalchian has the right face for this one.

Matt: It’s been ages since I’ve watched a Shyamalan film – and this isn’t even by that Shyamalan, it’s by his daughter Ishana Night, though M. Night Shyamalan is co-producing. From the trailer I can’t say anything about whether this’ll be a good film or not… but as far as trailers are concerned, it’s definitely one that makes me curious, and that’s a good thing for a trailer to do.
