I’ll be in my trailer… watching trailers: Sometimes they come back

Join us every week for a trip into the weird and wonderful world of trailers. Whether it’s the first teaser for the latest instalment in your favourite franchise, an obscure preview for a strange indie darling, whether it’s good, bad, ugly or just plain weird – your favourite pop culture baristas are there to tell you what they think.

Last week’s Six Damn Fine Degrees took us into the (under)world of vampires, and this week’s instalment stayed there, focusing on a particularly attractive pair of bloodsuckers.

Meanwhile, Sam and Matt talked about sequels for the November espresso (short, strong podcasty goodness in a cup!) – and yes, they talked about the one with the singing clown and the one with the sweaty Roman. Good times!

Talking about sequels and remakes and the like, though, we should probably end on this… thing.

Matt: I don’t get it. I don’t think I’ll ever get it. What is the point of remaking animation as live action? And even more, what’s the point of remaking CGI animation as live action that consists of, wait for it, lots of CGI animation? What is the audience for these? Is it people who somehow feel like an animated film is for kids and they’re too grown-up for that? And if the audience is kids: why the hell do we want to tell them that animation is somehow not good enough and that these only become real films once they’re live-action(ish)? As the meme goes: thanks, I hate it!
