Join us every week for a trip into the weird and wonderful world of trailers. Whether it’s the first teaser for the latest instalment in your favourite franchise, an obscure preview for a strange indie darling, whether it’s good, bad, ugly or just plain weird – your favourite pop culture baristas are there to tell you what they think.
Kings, knights, ladies in lakes – and a very particular sword: in this week’s Six Damn Fine Degrees, Julie revisited John Boorman’s messy but epic Excalibur.
Also this week, Matt checked out the first of his Criterion Premieres Blu-rays, Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s fascinating, foreboding Evil Does Not Exist.
What else?
Matt: While I liked House of the Dragon better than expected, the thought of yet another Game of Thrones series didn’t appeal. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms looks like it’s got a sense of fun, though, which changes things a lot.
Matt: As a big fan of Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins, the thought of a smart take on one of the many presidential assassination attempts makes me look up. Doubly so if the cast is as stacked as here. Bring on Death by Lightning, I say!
