I’ll be in my trailer… watching trailers: Queer as films

Join us every week for a trip into the weird and wonderful world of trailers. Whether it’s the first teaser for the latest instalment in your favourite franchise, an obscure preview for a strange indie darling, whether it’s good, bad, ugly or just plain weird – your favourite pop culture baristas are there to tell you what they think.

What do we find most frightening in horror movies? For Matt, it’s less the Freddy Kruegers and the Pennywises and more the implacable, impersonal evils coming closer… and closer… and closer. The Michael Myers, for instance. Check out our latest Six Damn Fine Degrees post for the terrifying details.

On a less frightening note, Sam and Matt talked about the Swiss LGBTIAQ+ film festival Queersicht for the latest podcast espresso. Here are some trailers for the films shown at this year’s festival.

And what else does the week have in store for us?

Matt: On a recent tour, Joanna Hogg passed by our town. We went to see her and she talked, with an understated glee, about her next film after The Souvenir’s two parts: a ghost story. It looks like that one is coming soon, and it features the incredible Tilda Swindon not just once but twice, playing mother and daughter. This may not be your typical chiller, but hey, I’m definitely there for The Two Tildas.

Mege: There are plenty of strong images in EO, which looks like a feast for the eyes and a trip through a mental landscape of its creators. Au hazard, Balthazar? Well yes, that and more.
