I’ll be in my trailer… watching trailers: In brightest day, in blackest night

Join us every week for a trip into the weird and wonderful world of trailers. Whether it’s the first teaser for the latest instalment in your favourite franchise, an obscure preview for a strange indie darling, whether it’s good, bad, ugly or just plain weird – your favourite pop culture baristas are there to tell you what they think.

How do you remember your teenage years? Matt remembers them being heavily pixelated – which gave him an ideal in into the time capsule that is Perfect Tides.

Meanwhile, Sam wrote in this week’s Six Damn Fine Degrees about actors who were very much not the ideal age for the roles they played – and they excelled nonetheless.

And let’s end this trailer post on this little show from the DC Universe:

Matt: I’m faintly aware of Green Lantern, but not really enough to be terribly excited about Lanterns on that basis. However, seeing that Damen Lindelof – of The Leftovers, Watchmen and Mrs. Davis fame, oh, and I hear he was also involved in a little series called Lost – is involved changes this a fair bit. And while I’m a bit meh when it comes to Kyle Chandler, I’ve liked Aaron Pierre in The Underground Railroad and Rebel Ridge, and I liked Kelly Macdonald and Garret Dillahunt way before they were both in the Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men. The trailer looks like serviceable superhero fare – but with Lindelof as one of the people behind the series, I suspect it could be more than just that.
