I’ll be in my trailer… watching trailers: Heads up

Join us every week for a trip into the weird and wonderful world of trailers. Whether it’s the first teaser for the latest instalment in your favourite franchise, an obscure preview for a strange indie darling, whether it’s good, bad, ugly or just plain weird – your favourite pop culture baristas are there to tell you what they think.

Party like it’s 1932: this week, Alan’s series on the Academy Award Best Picture winners arrived at Grand Hotel. Who wouldn’t like a bit of Greta Garbo in their week?

Also, in this week’s Six Damn Fine Degrees, Sam stayed with the (very loosely interpreted) mythological theme.

But we’re not done yet! Here’s some more trailer goodness to end the week on.

Mege: Oh man, does there have to be a sequel? I had huge problems being interested in Fincher’s The Social Network (2010), so my disinterest is even more of a hurdle this time. Zuckerberg is the least interesting kind of highly functioning sociopath, so why watch him navigate the murky waters of corporate intrigue? It sounds like Animal Farm with people. And it pisses me off that I really like most of the cast – Betty Gilpin, Mickey Madison, Patrick Fischler.

Matt: For a fan of Hirokazu Koreeda, it’s wonderful to know that we’ll be getting not just one but two new films by the director. His Sheep in the Box wasn’t a huge hit with critics, but I’m still curious to see it. And the same goes double for Look Back, which is based on a manga – just like Koreeda’s gem Our Little Sister.
